MSC Malaysia Cybercity and Cybercentre are designated MSC Malaysia area with conducive business environment that provides the right ecosystem to promote the growth of local ICT companies. To eligible for MSC Malaysia Cybercity/Cybercentre status, the applicant must fulfil strict qualifying criteria including -
- the Cybercity/ Cybercentre must provide world class physical and information infrastructure to MSC status companies
- 70% of the area must comprise of office space and provide a conducive and competitive business environment suitable for the operation of ICT and MSC status companies
- there must be sufficient talent pool in the surrounding area
- the Cybercity/ Cybercentre must be close to and have linkages with universities and research centres
- the area must adopt the relevant e-applications that enhances service delivery such as smart card, e-Government, tele-health, e-business, techno-preneur and R&D cluster
- it must offer programmes or initiatives that can directly benefit MSC Malaysia companies located in the designated premises

What is the difference between MSC Tier 1 Office and MSC Tier 2 Office and which one should you opt for?
MSC Tier 1 office refers to MSC Designated Premises. On the other hand, MSC Tier 2 office refers to other commercial premises within the MSC Cybercity/ Cybercentre.
The main differentiating factor for MSC Tier 1 office and MSC Tier 2 office is that the former provides 24-hour power back-up with dual power supply. In the event of any power interruption at one source of power (e.g. TNB), the second power source will kick-in to ensure no interruption of power supply to the premises. One will not be able to enjoy such privilege from MSC Tier 2 offices where the power back-up supply is only available for the common area (e.g. lift, lobby etc) but not the individual office unit.

Should you have your company in MSC Status Corporate Office?
There are 3 scenarios.
First, if you are a MSC Tier 1 Status company and would like to enjoy all the incentives, rights and privileges under the 10 Bills of Guarantees (BOG) granted by the Malaysian Government to MSC Status Companies, then you must house your office in MSC Designated Premises (also known as MSC Tier 1 building).

BOG9 MSC Malaysia infrastructure tender contracts to leading companies which agree to use the MSC Malaysia as their regional hub

Second, if you are a Tier 2 MSC Status Company and are ready to forego BOG1 (world-class physical and information infrastructure) and BOG8 (globally competitive telecommunications tariffs), you can choose to locate your office in other commercial premises within the MSC Cybercity/ Cybercentre, which is also known as MSC Tier 2 building.
